Posted on December 10, 2011 by Geek Translator, aka KirkBNI Presentation = Success!
Okay here we go with a new blogpost. Yes, it seems weird that I am doing a blog after having been absent for over a month now. Well hey, even the greatest have to take breaks so they can refresh and get back on the right track. So enough about that! Lets get on with what I wanted to bring to the table today.
RDM Infinity, the #1 leader in all things awesome, happens to be a member of the local BNI chapter. Since not everybody is as business savy as RDM, BNI stands for business networking international, which is an amazing way to get your business name out there and increase your sales team without having them on the actual payroll. So why am I talking about that this morning? Hold on a second and I will be telling you! Gees, little impatient this morning huh!
12/8/2011 at 8:00 am: The time I stood up for our presentation during business networking international which happens to be 7 minutes in length and a very detailed presentation on your business. More importantly, this is a chance to “toot your own horn” and give the other members a real glimpse into the life of your company. As a team, Brandon, Liz, and I, determined that examples of three different types of mobile applications or mobile based functions would be the way to go. I, of course, had to be the presenter of since I am the member within the group and have a better knowledge of the members within our group. Lets take a step back into the morning of December 8th so we can all get the feel of how it is being successful. haha!
12/8/2011 6:15am: Beep Beep Beep Beep! The alarm clock beeping frantically to get my butt out of bed. I had slept well Wednesday night until around 5:10 which is when the dog woke me up for a bathroom visit to the freezing outdoors. Well every 3 minutes after that, I woke up in a panic thinking that I was now going to miss the meeting and subsequently not be able to present this amazing business.
12/8/2011 7:10am: Jed Block, the president of our club, yells “good morning BNI”. Why do I mention Jed and his yelling? Well that is when the sweating began……..the nervous sweats! Okay not really but I did spill my coffee all over the white table cloth. On the bright side, I saved Johnny Olivas cell phone from becoming a casualty in the craziness of my “nervousness”.
Enough of the lame details; Lets get to the good part. Okay, so the presentation is a “commercial” demonstrating the company and its services. Well being that we are in the group as a mobile application provider, I had to really narrow the focus of the presentation to basically that subject. However, knowing that a few of the members in the group needed to see a mobile app in action, I was able to(with the help of my colleagues) mock up some screen shots that blew this group away. A time tracker app for Mastercraft Painting, a customer text club for Sierra Le Bone, and a work order app for Capitol Control Systems Inc……. Heck yeah, lets show them how we rock n roll here at RDM.
Hmmm, did I peak your interest into what mobile apps can really do? I think so…..or you wouldn’t have read the whole thing! Basically a mobile application can do whatever your business needs as a solution. Bring your ideas to our office, call my cell phone, send a carrier pigeon with a message, pony express, or snail mail….It doesn’t matter how you get your questions and ideas to us… RDM Infinity will bring your solution to life through your mobile device!

What Impresses this Newbie….
Three weeks into this new venture, gig, job, or whatever descriptive word that you would like to use and things are really happening. That is non-geek verbage for the programmers are busy busy busy!!! Im no tech geek and dang sure not used to staring at a computer screen all day long especially with no video or game involved. However, I am learning that technology is the most amazing thing in the world….for the sake of this blog and my job at least! So as I sit here looking and racking my brain to figure out which direction this little post should take, it hits me that I would begin with what I learned first! Google Apps! Raise your hand if you know what or have heard of Google Apps. Okay for the first time ever while dealing with some computer mumbo jumbo, my hand is(was for a second) raised really high in the air. Yes!
So, Google Apps…. what exactly is Google Apps and why would I do a blog surrounding it? Google apps as defined by, well the Google Apps website, “is a program that hosts customized versions of Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, and Google Sites on your domain.” Duh! You didn’t know that?! Well, up until three weeks ago I had never heard of the program. I know what you are thinking right now; You are thinking this guy is a salesman and wants me to buy this Google Apps pitch. Yeah I do because its my job to sell it to you! At this point though, I am strictly giving you the tools and knowledge about Google Apps and why you should pursue it.
I’ll send you down the information highway with a trailer load of benefits to chew on while driving. Email directly for your domain with an incredible amount of storage, shared calendars for the Google Apps user to see, real time(yes I said real time) document sharing for viewing and editing between users. That means you can be five feet apart of 3700 miles apart and still be able to view and edit the document in real time. Well how does that work? It works because it is a web based program and can be brought up at any time from any computer with internet access! Amazing? Yes Yes it is! Finally, and the best part of all, is the cost: $50/year per user! You know, the half a century number, 50! Per Year! Now for all of the benefits that Google Apps has to offer, that $50/year per user is like stealing candy from a computer baby.
Enough out of me here. Take a look at the Google Apps video at the beginning of this pageand see for yourself what all is there for you and your business! I know I’m hooked like a large mouth bass on the end of my sons fishing line! Get out there and get yourself some Google Apps.
